Our Chairperson Bridget Mather and our Executive Director Dr Anne Butcher have the following Christmas messages to share.
A Christmas Message from Chairperson Bridget Mather
As 2019 draws to a close, on behalf of the newly formed Management Board, I would like to say a warm thank-you to staff, members, partners and colleagues for your continuing support and inspiring work throughout the year. Much has been achieved!
While we look forward to a well-earned rest during the upcoming holiday season, celebrating and relaxing with family and friends, we can reflect on a year of continuing change and growth.
The basis of our endeavours during 2019 was shaped by our ongoing vision to ‘Enhance the Lives of Women’ through our commitment to working positively with the women, men, children and their families in the Mackay community, west to the Hinterland and north to the Whitsundays.
We have continued to work alongside and in partnership with organisations, businesses and state government colleagues to achieve inspiring outcomes for the region.
Our organisation is in the fortunate position of being able to witness the continuing support of government and community partners and during 2019 a growing respect for our service from private enterprise, particularly in the delivery of training and the utilisation of MWS expertise.
We are very fortunate in that the community continues to place a tremendous amount of trust in us to work positively with them and to focus on ways to continually improve our service through dedication, innovation and expansion to services where possible.
The past year was also complex as we saw an increasing demand for our agency’s services and the magnitude of change impacting on communities and our sector. This environment makes it vital that we continue to advocate for issues that impact our clients.
Once again, thank you for the significant and positive impact the Mackay Women’s Service continues to have in the community.
A Christmas Message from Executive Director Dr Anne Butcher
Mackay Women’s Services has had a wonderful year of strategic growth in 2019 which has seen record numbers of services being offered to women, children and men in Mackay and surrounding regional communities.
In total, in the past year, we have provided support and services to 1254 new clients, on top of the existing 995 clients who were already receiving our services.
The work we do is complex and challenging but we have a vision and passion to do everything we can to ‘Enhance the Lives of Women’ and in so doing the flow-on effects mean we also provide services to support children and men in our communities as well.
We are very fortunate indeed that, in Mackay and regional communities, people are tremendously generous and our services are so well supported to do the work we do.
So, at this time of year, I would like to stop and reflect on the past year and say, on behalf of myself and all staff at Mackay Women’s Services, thank you all so much for the wonderfully generous businesses, community organisations, and caring individuals who so thoughtfully donated goods and services, or finances, or their time through volunteering with our service.
You have all made a huge difference in in the lives of women and children in our communities and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
