WOMEN’S COUNSELLING

The Domestic Violence Resource Service offers free counselling for women experiencing domestic and family violence.

Domestic and family violence occurs when an individual uses any form of behaviour to control or maintain power and authority over another person they are in a relationship with or related to.

  • The abuse could be physical, sexual, emotional, financial, cultural/spiritual or verbal.
  • Domestic and family violence is part of a cycle – it is not a one-off event.
  • Never think the violence or abuse is your fault. You are not alone. There are people who can help.

If you would like to talk to a domestic and family violence counsellor please contact the Domestic Violence Resource Service (Mackay and Region) on 07 4953 1788 (Mon-Fri 8.30am-4.30pm) or email admin@dvrs.org.au.

If you are in immediate danger phone 000.

For after-hours support, information and referral phone the DV Connect 24-hours crisis line on 1800 811 811.
