The Domestic Violence Resource Service and the Mackay Women’s Sexual Assault Service run events and activities throughout the year to coincide with worldwide or national awareness days and months.

Sexual Violence Awareness Month

Sexual Violence Awareness Month is held in October each year to promote support options to those affected by sexual violence, raise awareness in the community, and uphold the message that sexual violence is not tolerated in our community.

On Friday, October 26, 2018, Mackay residents will march though the city centre as part of Reclaim the Night, a global annual march against sexual violence.

The Reclaim the Night March will leave from Bluewater Quay at 5:30 pm on Friday October 26.

March through the city centre and back to Bluewater Quay for a free sausage sizzle, speeches and entertainment.

For more information visit the Reclaim the Night event page.

Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Month

Each May is Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Month to help raise awareness in the community and send a clear message that violence of this sort will not be tolerated.
