If you’re in immediate danger phone Triple Zero 000 or go to the Emergency Department at your nearest hospital.

If you have recently experienced sexual assault you should get to a place where you are safe and then phone 000 or the Mackay Base Hospital on 07 4885 6000.

If you are reporting the assault to the police you should not change your clothes, wash yourself or even brush your hair. These actions may remove evidence.

The Mackay Women’s Sexual Assault Service offers free and confidential counselling and support for women (aged 15 years +) who have experienced sexual assault. We can also refer you to appropriate medical care.

We also can provide appropriate referral avenues for male victims of sexual assault.
